Probably my favorite place to eat in Cardiff. Every time I go back to visit my family in Cardiff I have to make a point of eating at madame fromage. The Welsh rarebit is amazing and so is the goat cheese on toast with salad. I totally forgot to take a photo of my food, but I did get pics of everyone else's lol.
The Camembert with maple bacon was a favorite too.
Parsnip soup was good, but I love the potato leek better.
The rarebit and welsh cowl are a must. -

I found this by accident while poking around the arcades...many stores were closed..the cheese shop was closing, but the staff was nice enough to explain different cheese to me..
I was briefly in Cardiff, but I recommend..
Next time I want to try their Oggies..
They looked good -

I spent an afternoon here, eating like a pig. I started with the Welch rarebit because that is what you should do in Wales. I ordered two beers and I had a delicious cheese plate. It was too much food for one person but I took my time and eat every bit of it.

Oh my god I can't believe we almost missed out on this lunch.
"Madame fromage" doesn't sound too Welsh... And being a French woman, I wasn't really fancying eating French food while visiting Wales so I wasn't keen at first but God! This place is just a foodie heaven!!
After researching where to eat the best Welsh rarebit online, the reviews were adamant: Madame fromage. So we went in there purely for lunch but ended up wanting to buy the whole shop.
They do have French cheese yeah but also dozens of local Welsh cheese, pastries, cakes, condiments...
This is a must stop for any foodie visiting Cardiff. -

This little delight is right in the heart of the Castle Arcade and well worth seeking out.
After doing the tourist thing around Cardiff Castle, the Mrs and I were looking for a little pit-stop before venturing to the next attraction.
We only came in for a quick coffee, but were tempted in to stay for a bite to eat. Madame Fromage is a small and quirky cafe come deli with quirky decore and smiley staff.
The Mrs took advantage of the Coffee and Cake deal. £3.50 for a coffee and homemade cake which happened to be raspberry and lemon drizzle (mega Yums)
Myself - I went for the savoury option of a glass of house white wine and mini cheeseboard. It was hard not to be tempted into this with the deli just sitting there beside us! For £6 odd you got a good chunk of at least 6 cheeses, 4 hunks of bread with a pickle, apple and grape. The cheeses were all fresh (not end of the line -need to use up) and pickle was surprisingly delicious - without being so sweet.
Looking around what other people were eating, everything looked soo homely and fresh. Big chunky breads, warm Wholesome stews and big platters of meats and cheeses.
This is my ideal cafe/restaurant of all time and I wish there were more like this around. Nothing was extortionately priced and the staff were friendly and efficient.
This place seemed very popular without being crammed. Get in early and endulge yourself.
